STREET CHOIRS:

Alwoodley Community Choir: we are a lively group of singers who meet at the Lord D’Arcy pub every Wednesday to sing and socialise. Whilst we aim to creat a pleasing, harmonious sound, the empahsis at our rehearsal is on inclusion and laughter. Contact us at: jeansinclair5@yahoo.co.uk or caryl.burnham@btinternet.com

Asmarina Voices: AV was established in January 2013 as part of West Yorkshire Playhouse’s community wrap-around work from the premier of the production Refugee Boy. Since then the group has continued inviting refugee and asylum seeking women to come along to the weekly, free, fun and friendly singing sessions. Meeting Fridays during term time at First Floor 1.00 – 2.30pm, it is a drop-in group, welcoming those who have no previous experience of singing and those who are already confident performers!

Free Range: FR has been performing in and around Leeds for ten years. We like singing a wide range of repertoire, including original songs written for us by our musical director Frances. Our performances have included ‘Sing Freedom’ (a South African story with songs); Conscience & Courage (songs and stories of WWI conscientious objectors); and most recently a Cuban-inspired concert. We meet on Tuesday evenings in Woodhouse. We currently need sopranos, but all enquiries are welcome: freerangechoir.org.uk or email frances@naturalvoice.net

Good in Parts: We sing songs from aorund the world plus gospel and pop with the emphasis on support, encouragement and fun for all. There are no auditions to join and there is no need to be able to read music. We meet on Mondays 8.00pm at the Queen’s Hall (Church of the Immaculate Heart), Harrogate Road, Moortown. For further details email contact@goodinparts.org.uk

Harmony: Harmony’s ethos is “Unity in Song”. We are a multi-racial community choir based in East Leeds for anyone who would like to experience the joy of singing together. We offer a warm welcome to refugees and asylum seekers, have a “pay as you can” policy and can help with childcare and bus fares for people on low incomes. Currently funded by The Peoples’ Health Trust and Give Love Leeds. We meet every Thursday 6.00 – 7.30pm. www.harmonychoir.org.uk or email frances@naturalvoice.net
